Allegory arising from consumerism and time devaluating that consumption. Bag filled of unfinished projects and items that lost value after time. The bag is attached to model's thigh and a dress is sculptured over it all. The model moves around with glamour, but certain difficulty (bag weight ~90LB). Video is available. 11/18/99 Live installation in Zao store benefit party. Model was dressed in "Waste not or Dress Seat" and slowly moving within the crowd, giving out information brochures from her built-in pouch. 02/03/00 DUMBO Arts Festival material available on video tape. The show "Instant Product" stresses material qualities and the visual effects are built using polyurethane coated fleece. At the starting point of the performance 5 dancers were seated and completely / tightly covered in the fabric (resembling packages). After the growth from low position to the full height of a dancer, and a lot of movement inside the coverage, certain pre-perforated areas would brake apart and head and limbs start pocking through. The show convinces how minimal clothes can be by using the new technology materials. Performance is completed by conventional catwalk on the runway. This fashion spectacle was aimed to be site-specific, since the loading duck of an industrial building and parking lot were to be the stage. Video is available. 09/15/99 Multisensory/multimedia fashion show "Millenium Felt" at the Limelight Club. This show was performed within the dancing crowd quite unannounced, but sensed, since the models were wearing one particular perfume. This way smell and tactile senses were driving audience attention to the spectacle. Drinks and snacks were served to satisfy the taste sense along with sound and visual effects by Design Machine. Second part of the show and finale took part on the stage. Video is available. 07/15/99 Fashion ceremony, celebrating the art, at Enter Here travelling Gallery. Models, all dressed in particular outfit performed a ritual for the chosen art piece. Medium: models' right hand, face and cosmetic oil based paint. 08/10/99 Windows at Antique Boutique with wearable sculptures. -Aspen 4th July parade Built by weaving heat insulation material strips (pink material) into a "Jack-in-a-box" sculpture with helium filled head piece (chicken wire and paper mashie). The spectacle also included 7 performers in costumes and a dress for the truck, all made out of the same materials. 07/04/96 |
